The low cost of living in Spain is among the most alluring reasons to relocate, among many others. With a lower cost of living than in the USA, you can live in Spain and experience a great quality of life. Prices are always one of the key factors when comparing two nations, there is no getting around that. Spain appears to be a particularly strong choice in that regard. Spain has a 123% lower cost of living than the USA on average. Rent, utilities, groceries, daycare, and health insurance are the items with the highest price discrepancies. There are several benefits, including warm weather all year round, delectable food, and an advanced healthcare system. Spain has relatively modest living expenses despite having high levels of living. Culturally, Galicia is also quite special. The region of present day Galicia was once a Celtic nation, and Galicia also has its own language, the Gallego. The Galician language is a Romance language that shares a number of common elements with Portuguese and Castilian Spanish. The weather in Galicia is also quite different from other parts of Spain, which can be an advantage or a disadvantage, depending on your taste. It is definitely cooler in Galicia then in most other regions of Spain. So, while in summer it is often too hot in Madrid, in Galicia the temperature remains pleasant. But, winter in Galicia is definitely rainy and windy. 04:51 Barcelona Barcelona is the next city in our list today, and I guess you are not surprised at all to see the largest city in Catalonia featured among the best cities to live in Spain. Barcelona is the city in Spain that receives the highest amount of international tourists, and it is easy to understand why. It has everything you can expect for a short visit: amazing cultural attractions like the Parc Guell and the Sagrada Familia, a bustling nightlife and of course, the beach. On the other hand, Barcelona has some disadvantages that may be a deal breaker for some. It definitely has a problem with over tourism and real estate is not on the cheap side. 05:38 Granada Granada is a city in the Andalusian region of Southern Spain, mostly known for its iconic Alhambra, a palace complex overlooking the city. Granada is a mid sized city, with slightly more than 200 thousand inhabitants, and the ideal place if you don’t want to live in a metropolis in Spain. It enjoys a high level of safety, and quaint streets full of places to enjoy the most exquisite Spanish tapas. 06:30 Malaga Malaga is the last city in our list of the best places to live in Spain, and it also one of the largest cities in the country. The city is in one of the sunniest areas of Spain, and has one of the most sought beaches in the country. Considering its touristic vein, Malaga also has great transport connections with the rest of Europe. Its airport is one of the busiest in Spain, with direct flights to most large cities in Europe. 07:27 Extra Place Andorra One of the main reasons why I have decided to include Andorra in this list, despite the fact that it is an independent country and not part of Spain, is for its taxes. Spain has pretty high taxes for most types of income, including pensions, and this is one of the reasons a lot of people decide to skip Spain for some more tax friendly locations. That’s why Andorra can be a relevant option.

🤍 Eurozone finance ministers approved Spain's bank bailout on Friday but it comes at a price. The countries that are lending the money have forced Madrid to abide by strict conditions in return for the funds. Spanish officials are not happy about that as they have been doing everything possible to ensure the country's national sovereignty is not weakened. As well as honouring its government deficit reduction targets and commitments on structural reforms, Madrid will have to accept closer outside scrutiny of Spanish banks by handing over its banking supervision powers. The banks that get bailout money will have to open their doors to the European Commission the European Central Bank and the European Banking Authority. To ensure there is no political meddling, the economy minister will have to relinquish some of his powers to the central bank - the Bank of Spain - such as the licensing and sanctioning of lenders. A big reason the banks are in trouble is that as the property bubble inflated they loaned billions that are not going to be repaid. Those loans will all go into a newly created so-called bad bank and be written off. Even with this money, Spain's banks will continue to struggle in a moribund economy. A government forecast released on Friday said that GDP will shrink by 0.5 percent next year. It is predicted to grow by 1.2 percent in 2014 and by 1.9 percent in 2015. Public debt is seen as falling to 4.5 percent of GDP next year, 2.8 percent of GDP in 2014 and 1.9 percent in 2015.
