In today's video we're going over why it's better to start developing your look with a simple workflow in DaVinci Resolve 17 Download Davinci Resolve for Free: 🤍 Time Stamps 0:00 - Intro 0:32 - The "Complicated" Way Setup 2:00 - Look Breakdown 2:44 - The Problems 3:50 - More Efficient Setup 5:00 - Why it's Faster 5:40 - Why Use Offset for Look Creation 8:07 - Using Offset w/ Printer Light Hotkeys 9:00 - Changing Look Quickly for Entire Scene 10:00 - Final Notes and Take-Aways Notes: Please watch the note at the end. I'm not trying to say that you're wrong for using a certain method, it's more about working efficiently and making things easier for yourself especially in the initial look creation phase. There's a reason why we have the term secondary grading, and it it recommend to leave these things til further on in the project to avoid tons of work if a massive change is required. I also don't mean to say that you shouldn't use tonal specific color adjustments, in the demonstration I do exactly that to balance out shadows. it's just that a look created in the offset will translate more easily to other shots because of how it's uniformly applied. The main shot of me is in bad need of some noise reduction, but after many attempts my laptop was not having it. Not enough Vram to get the job done I guess. So apologies for that. I'll find a brighter corner next time in this hotel room. Lighting options are limited. Also, should I be labeling my nodes? Probably. This is just a quick example project, but it is a good practice and invaluable for large projects involving many sessions or multiple people working on it. Learn how to color grade your Unreal renders easily in Davinci Resolve! The first 1,000 people to use this link will get a 1 month free trial of Skillshare: 🤍 If the OCIO options aren't showing up for you in MRQ, make sure you have the OpenColorIO plugin enabled! My understanding is that while Unreal is in linear sRGB, the viewport has an ACES filmic tonemapper applied, giving us the substantial benefits of the ACES tone curve, filmic highlight rolloffs, etc. However, the ACES colorspace for post-production work is intended to be linear. What we get out of #UnrealEngine with default render settings isn't in linear, the tonemapper remaps those linear values to the 0-1 range. The OCIO config disables that tonemapper at render time. Which is why we jump through all the hoops in this video to render in linear. I get a lot of questions about how to get my renders from Unreal Engine, and into Davinci Resolve for grading. There's a lot of mixed opinions and thoughts on the matter out there, but this here is what I've found to be the easiest and most straightforward approach. This week In The NVIDIA Studio we take a deeper look at three new features that help streamline video editing with RTX GPUs in Blackmagic Design’s DaVinci Resolve 18. Automatic Depth Map uses AI to instantly generate a 3D depth matte of a scene to quickly grade the foreground separately from the background, and vice versa. Object Mask Tracking also takes advantage of AI to recognize and track the movement of thousands of unique objects without having to manually rotoscope. Surface Tracking uses the CUDA cores found on RTX GPUs to quickly calculate and track any surface NVIDIA GPUs accelerate your work with incredible boosts in performance. Less time staring at pinwheels of death means bigger workloads, more features, and creating your work faster than ever. Welcome to NVIDIA Studio—and your new, more creative, process.
