Today, I wanted to give you an explanation of the 3 main reasons why I quit playing Elden Ring. This is still one of my favorite video games ever and I think it's game of the year 2022 for sure, but it doesn't have the same replayability as Sekiro, Bloodborne, Demon's Souls, or any of the Dark Souls games. I explain why in this short video essay / analysis / critique and I hope you enjoy! Credit also goes to Slanderous for the idea! Of course I’ll still be playing Elden Ring here and there, I just wanted to share my thoughts on the subject. The difficulty in bosses ruins the game for me. They really like to troll you with bosses that can kill you in 2 hits
if i could have my perfect world we’d get 2 more souls likes before our next elden ring type with a new crazy world and different style
elden ring is a game thats too big to replay the world is amazing to explore but the layout and size make replaying tedious the game is phenomenal tho
I agree to an extent. However I spent my first 3 play throughs still learning. What stats do. I play it a lot and I still haven’t even everything not even close. I feel like your looking at more like a souls game vs something new. Which is understandable. I do think that some of the boss rooms are kind repetitive. And lackluster. But the fact I can go from a azules moonblade and moonveil. Do a lighting throwing chad. Is why I enjoy it so much.
Yea this is why I am quiting this game too. Boss fights . Endless dodging . You need to do like 2 min or non stop rolling to avoid all boss AOE atacks for a small 5 sek window where you can actually land some atacks. This is not a fight . This is a circus.
The only play through I used was Limgrave after that I had pretty much did my own thing then play through 2 was good but after that on the 3rd play through was boring
You only ran one build. And then wonder why you got bored?
You buy a Fromsoft game and didn't try str, dex, magic, ranged, and effect proc builds? Amateur
Dude I totally agree I once I beat it I knew i wasn't going to play it anymore it's just not fun after discovering everything once
Dude omfg I was so pissed that instead of adding more creatures and monsters they just slap a different skin or outfit on the same enemies
Don’t get me wrong, you can get very strong just killing everything you encounter while exploring and the items, spells, weapons, etc. you find. And of course Spirit Ashes. Choosing not to is the player’s fault, but actually doing it is very time-consuming and requires a lust for exploration in the player. However, the game is built around assuming you grind to have high levels and upgraded weapons and ashes. As a result, the game is poorly balanced as the bosses and other challenges either end up rather easy because you and your ashes are massively amped up, or completely unfair and unrewarding because you wanted to play solo and not grind the zones. Basically, just like how you should kill everything in an area in Dark Souls for their souls, you should do the same to a zone in Elden Ring. And probably go around Stormveil and continue the process in Liurnia before challenging Stormveil. Unfortunately, losing your runes on death means the many super powerful mobs scattered in the zones (often as ambushes) will force you to clear zones again. Also, the damage dealt by many enemies and their speed, especially bosses, makes the Dark Souls form of combat forced on the player largely unsuitable for Elden Ring. Honestly, I advise playing it on PC with a mod to prevent rune-loss on death (the map sizes makes losing runes detrimental to the experience in this game) and maybe one to reduce damage taken and increase damage dealt to make boss fights faster as their health bars and damage makes winning take forever if your perfect and learning their moves very time-consuming.
skill issue
Mf complaining about the thing wrong with most open world games and pretending it's just Elden Ring's problem.
point 3. get good lmao.
this game is not dark souls 4. learn their attack patterns and find your openings. youve been spoiled by dark souls 3 giving you an opening every 5 seconds
dark souls 3 is blatantly easy and garabge. stop comparing them
Reason 1: That's essentially the same for all Souls games with DkS2 being the exception with changes in NG+ and beyond.
Reason 2: Pretty much the same as the first reason, once you've gone through the areas you can just run to what you need before continuing to the bosses just like the linear games.
Reason 3: Just a skill and patience issue, your clip shows you being way too aggressive instead of avoiding the attack and then crying unfair lmao.
I don't care what everyone says, Open world in 99% games of the last decade it's been a excuse for lazy uninspired, tedious boring game design, and a simply marketing strategy.
This might be where Armored Core VI will shine, because AC has a mission structure called "sorties", where you're deployed into an open area that works like a sandbox mission. It's not linear, but it's not vast in its openness either. If you've played MGSV, it's sort of like heading out to a mission frrom Mother Base idea, albeit not deploying to that same open world. In AC, everything you have to accomplish the mission is only as available as your skills and what you brought with you on the mission, making it very Souls-like in terms of the challenge and the "learning the dance" replayability until you get it right. Then, you move onto the next "open area" with each proceeding chapter. But Fromsoft said that AC6 will be more open than it ever was, which makes me think they're leaning into the same treatment as Elden Ring. But they said it will remain mission structured. They're just taking what they've learned from the Souls games, to make AC better. Which makes me think that where Elden Ring falls short on the points you've mentioned, could be improved upon in AC6, where AC's structure will make those Elden Ring aspects shine. My point is, Elden Ring is the needed change to the Souls games and Fromsoft games in general. Or else Souls will just become stale. I think AC6 will be a critical success, in turn giving them something to bring back to the next Souls game. But Elden Ring needed to happen to force its evolution forward.
It just gets too repetitive !! Search an area, get all the loot and kill a Boss !! That's all Elden Ring is !!
vmWZ2p0TfkA&t=2m13s 2:13 “unnecessary items that you will never use” *shows clip of picking up rune arc which is arguably the most broken item in the game that most players just dont know how to use. No hate just found that part funny
really? bosses to hard?
try a summons.. or a potion my guy? :/
this is by far the easiest fs game ever created. Its up to the player to decide how hard they want it to be.
