OFFICIAL and RE-MASTERED One of the most formative sermons by Pastor Louie Giglio has traveled the world and impacted more than 1 million people over the past decade. SUMMARY Your life is a miracle, and the Creator of the universe knows you by name. He's big enough to breathe out stars, yet intricate enough to fashion together the trillions of cells that make up every facet of who you are. The God who spoke the universe into existence made you too and knows everything about you. From the smallest molecule to the situation you find yourself in right now, He's aware of your circumstance and intimately acquainted with everything you do. And He cares about you and promises to carry you through. That's where we find hope in the midst of the darkest places in life. The journey is often complicated and painful, filled with confusion and chaos. Yet, the cross of Christ reveals God's promise to preserve and restore you no matter what the circumstance. He will hold onto you and hold you together, giving strength to those who hope in His unfailing love. He is the everlasting God! A few facts mentioned in this talk // - If the Earth was a golf ball...the Sun would be 15 feet in diameter. - Betelgeuse, the brightest star in the night sky, is twice the size of the Earth's orbit around the Sun. Pastor Louie launches Passion City Church into the Above + Beyond season by pointing to Jesus, Who is the epitome of what it means to go “Above + Beyond.” Jesus accomplished His self-sacrificing work to draw us to Him as worshipers and break us free from a “system,” “lie,” “view,” and “city.” VERSES // John 12:20-33, Hebrews 13:10-16, 2 Corinthians 5:21, Ephesians 2:4-10 #faith #christian #sermon #passioncity #passioncityatlanta #atlanta #passioncitychurch #atlantachurch #christianity #Jesus #God — With Passion City Online, you can join us every Sunday live at 9:30a and 11:45a, and our gatherings are available on-demand starting at 7p! DISCUSSION QUESTIONS // 1. How would you describe what “Above + Beyond” is to someone visiting Passion City Church? 2. Why is it important to be a giver not out of obligation but out of inclination? In your own words, describe the balance we are called to maintain, between “abusing grace” and being legalistic? 3. How is laying aside ‘shame’ up to us? What does it mean that Jesus already did His part in dealing with our shame? 4. What is your “view of you”? In other words, if you are honest, what do you think about yourself in your best and worst moments? 5. Can you think of any passages in Scripture that specifically deal with the identity of people as followers of Jesus? In other words, what Scripture can we have on our minds to combat a “low view of self”? 6. What is the right attitude to have in enjoying the things of life that don’t last - things “in this city”? 7. In your own words, what should “The Shard” remind us of? 8. Why is it that thinking about eternity helps us live generously? 9. Scripture calls us to “present our requests to God” but it also calls us to seek God’s requests for ourselves (Eph. 5:17). Take a moment as a group to pray and ask God to speak to you during the Above + Beyond season.

OFFICAL and RE-MASTERED Born out of the song INDESCRIBABLE, written by Chris Tomlin and Louie Giglio, this talk was first delivered on the Indescribable Tour in October 2005. Since then it has become one of the most widely-shared talks in modern Christian culture, reaching more than 1 million views & downloads. SUMMARY The heavens are telling the glory of God, and their expanse declares the work of His hands. Night after night they remind us of just how small we are, and how huge God is. Looking out into the far reaches of the universe, we find a seemingly infinite expanse of mystery and wonder, intricately fashioned by a God of unfathomable size and power. Just a glimpse of one of the billions of visible galaxies He has formed resizes us, shrinking us, and the world we call home, to seeming insignificance in an instant. But as tiny as we may seem, the God who knows every star by name also knows yours, and mine. And in the most stunning rescue imaginable, God sent His Son to this spinning planet we call homethe Creator reconnecting us to Himself with life that never ends. Indescribable takes us on an image-rich journey through the cosmos, allowing us to peer into God's universe to discover the amazing magnitude of His greatness and grace. Pastor Louie challenges listeners by drawing attention to the 'dash' that represents our lives–the tiny mark on gravestones that properly represents the 'mist' of a life we live. Ironically, however, it is the brevity of life that reminds us how precious it is to live and how crucial it is to live for Jesus. In other words, at what point does saving become unbiblical? 6. What does it mean to be “found spotless” if we are already saved and justified? 7. How does “peace with God” have to do with much more than being saved? If anything that is not aligned with His will is not at peace with Him, what part of your life is not as peace with God? 8. How do you think your life stacks up to the Apostle Paul or Peter’s life? What would you tell them if they asked you about your life’s ministry? 9. Pastor Louie led our House into a new collection of talks, titled, ‘Priorities’ to help us align the three primary categories of our lives: our requirements, desires, and purpose. When these three facets overlap, we live and operate as God intended for us to live and operate; in a "natural" world with a supernatural mindset. VERSES // Matthew 6:25-34, Colossians 3:1-4, Ephesians 2:4-6, Matthew 4:4 #faith #christian #sermon #passioncity #passioncityatlanta #atlanta #passioncitychurch #atlantachurch #christianity #Jesus #God — With Passion City Online, you can join us every Sunday live at 9:30a and 11:45a, and our gatherings are available on-demand starting at 7p! DISCUSSION QUESTIONS 1. What were your "New Year's resolutions" or hopes for 2020? Do you have any hopes, expectations, resolutions, proclamations, or intentions that you established for this year? 2. Pastor Louie, in an effort to help us set great priorities, led our House to highlight important truths about our lives; our Requirements, Desires, and Purpose. What are some of the ‘requirements’ in your life? Do you have an unusual or unique ‘requirement’ in your life? 3. What are your ‘desires’ for this year? 4. What are your gifts and how do you intend to use them this year? In what ways will they contribute to your requirements and desires? 5. Have you ever experienced the overlap of these three areas of your life? What was that like? 6. What are your primary concerns this month? What continues to come up, interrupting your sleep, work, and life? 7. What did you learn from Ephesians 2, Colossians 3 and your “current spiritual position”? Is this difficult to wrap your mind around? If so, why? 8. What for you is getting in that “middle space” – where all three of these categories (requirements, desires, and purpose) overlap? 9. How do you “find your Father”? Do you “find Him” before everything else you find in the day? How do you start your typical morning? 10.When was the last time you asked God in the mundane to use you supernaturally? Take a moment now to ask God to remind you in the “natural” moments to think, pray, and ask for the supernatural.
“If God already knows everything, then why pray?” Pastor Louie answers this question by encouraging our House to take heart, teaching that it moves the heart of God when prayer is bold and faith-filled. Our prayers have the power to surround His throne like incense. Questions // 1. What was your initial answer to the question, “If God already knows everything, then why pray?” 2. What is the difference in praying for a miracle and praying for a miracle so that God’s glory will be made known? 3. Pastor Louie mentions a “revival” in Burma and God’s involvement in dark places. He briefly answers the question, “Why do crazy miracles seem to happen in other places?” Having heard this message, what do you think is the right way to answer this question? 4. Should we pray that God would raise everyone from the dead? Why or why not? 5 What is the purpose of miracles, according to Scripture and in your own words? 6. What does it mean that “It is impossible to please God without faith”? 7. To what extent is praying “about us”? To what extent is it “about God”? 8. What does it mean to “speak Jesus” over someone or something in a prayer? 9. What does this message make you want to do differently? What shift has this collection of talks made you want to take? 10. Now that you have heard this message, how would you answer the original question, “If God knows everything, why pray?” in your own words?

When did you first hear about Passion City Church? What led you here? 2. Unpack what Peterson shared about spending and income. He said, “Financial challenge is typically a spending issue, not an income issue.” What did he mean by this? 3. How is money a “tool to be managed” rather than a lifeline to be loved? How would you explain this concept in your own words? 4. Philippians 3 contains a passage about the Apostle Paul’s view of abundance. How would you describe how “gain” is “loss” in light of Jesus? 5. Dukes reminds listeners that “Life doesn’t consist in the abundance of possessions” (Lk. 12:15). What are the things and experiences in life that lead us to forget this principle? 6. Dukes shares an amazing thought, “We can’t control the economy but we can be good stewards of what God has entrusted to us.” What are some applications you can draw from this truth? What should we concern ourselves with and what should we not be anxious about? 7. Peterson shares that it is his family’s intention to “Give in such a way that we need God to provide.” What does this approach look like and how might it help you gauge what true generosity is for your life? 8. 2 Corinthians 8:2-5 is a powerful verse about the generosity of the early Church. Read it again together and answer this question: How did the churches of Macedonia give? What was their attitude? 9. Dukes shared that it is the hope of Passion City that, while everyone gives, everyone also receives. What are all the things we receive when we live generously? 10. Peterson closes the gathering by sharing this crucial truth: “God is a giver, not a taker, and we - as His people - are to be imitators of Him.” Take a moment as a group to pray for direction around what God is calling you to invest on Above + Beyond Sunday.

Jonathan Pickens delivers a powerful talk, pointing to three unique and unexpected examples from Scripture. There were three people (or groups) that "handed over" Jesus and His mission for the fleeting things of the world and we can learn from their mistake about the deception of our desires. Through Jesus, however, who handed Himself over for us, and by the power of the Spirit, we can walk faithfully without swerving from the truth. What is a modern example of the attitude of the Jewish leaders? 9. What is a modern example of the attitude of Pilate? 10. Why did Pickens include Jesus in the list of people who handed Jesus over?
Almost nothing is guaranteed, except for two things: Life is Hard. God is Good. That’s it; those are the two guarantees we’re walking away with today. The first one, life is hard, no one ever really had to teach us. The second one is a whole different story. God is good… all the time. So what happens when that truth faces off against real life? What happens when we are confronted with the truth that the story of Jesus-followers is a story of hardship? How do we reconcile the mountain of victory we’re standing on with the hardship the story of our spiritual lineage holds? We embrace it and we look at the life of Paul. — With Passion City Online, you can join us every Sunday live at 10a and 1p, and our gatherings are available on-demand starting at 3p! Pastor Louie addresses the issue of anxiety by exhorting our House to direct our attention “upward.” Anxiety is a massive weight and it drags people down year after year. However, there are offensive tactics we can take, says Pastor Louie. We can “gaze upward,” turning our attention from an issue to a Healer, and experience progress and healing even in a pit of despair. DISCUSSION QUESTIONS // 1. How do you answer the question, “To what extent do you rely on a doctor when it comes to the need for healing?”? 2. Pastor Louie shared about the issue of “Text Neck.” Do any of you know any practical exercises or keys to preventing this bad habit? 3. What are your thoughts on the article, “The Surprising Joy of Raising Your Gaze”? Were you surprised to hear about these results? 4. What might physiological and psychological discoveries like these suggest about our faith and the instruction in Scripture? 5. This may be strange to do as a group – and you will need to do this when it’s dark outside - so feel free to skip this step. Take 10 minutes of group time to get up, go outside, “look up” and find the Big Dipper, Little Dipper, and NorthStar. 6. Let’s talk about the process toward lifting our gaze. What will you think of when you choose to “remember the narrative we are in”? Pastor Louie mentioned listening to “Speak Jesus” about 1,000 times during a difficult season. 7. Do you have a season like this? Do you have a song of praise you played through it? 8. What does it mean to “exercise your right to hope in God”? 9. Where does your “help come from” in times of need? The biblical answer is “The LORD” but try to unpack just how “the LORD” helps you (Ps. 121:1). For instance, did He use a doctor or therapist? If your group has reached a place of transparency, ask this final question. 10. Where has “help come from” that was not a healthy source? In other words, who/what have you turned to for help—in the past or recently—that you should not have turned to?
LEARN MORE: 🤍 Do you see God as you should? How you view God informs everything about who you are and who you’re becoming. In this powerful video Bible study, bestselling author and pastor Louie Giglio challenges our perceptions of who God is and points us to know him as a heavenly Father who is not absent or ambivalent but is available and ready to embrace you with his unconditional love and blessing. This powerful Bible study invites you to: • see that God is the perfection of your earthly father, not a reflection of him; • discover how to walk in the freedom of your identity as a loved child, uniquely created by God; and, • break the chains of generational patterns by forgiving your imperfect family. When we take hold of the truth that God has spanned heaven and earth to reach us, we will no longer be defined by our pasts but by the love of a perfect heavenly Father. When we rightly see God’s character, we rightly see that we are loved, pursued, and secured by the Creator of the universe. Louie Giglio is pastor of Passion City Church and the original visionary of the Passion movement, which exists to call a generation to leverage their lives for the fame of Jesus. Since 1997, Passion Conferences has gathered college-aged young people in events across the United States and around the world. In 2022, Passion hosted over 50,000 students in the Mercedes-Benz Stadium with another one million people joining online. Louie is the national-bestselling author of over a dozen books, including Don't Give the Enemy a Seat at Your Table, At the Table with Jesus, Goliath Must Fall, Indescribable: 100 Devotions About God and Science, The Comeback, The Air I Breathe, I Am Not but I Know I Am, and others. As a communicator, Louie is widely known for messages such as "Indescribable" and "How Great Is Our God." An Atlanta native and graduate of Georgia State University, Louie has done postgraduate work at Baylor University and holds a master’s degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. To close out a powerful collection of talks on the enemy and the weight of anxiety, Pastor Louie leads listeners in a response; to declare Jesus over our circumstances and join in prayer with those who are in the pit of their struggle with anxiety. He shares four crucial words to respond as followers of Jesus to the pressure that comes with our anxious thoughts: Humble, Cast, Lift, and Care. By walking through the process embedded in these words and in this Scripture, we respond as God intended us to respond to fear, depression, and anxiety. DISCUSSION QUESTIONS // 1. What does society point toward to relieve stress and anxiety? Take a quick second to pull out your phones and research what the experts of the day are suggesting. 2. Of all that is recommended on the internet, what advice can you parallel with the Word of God? In other words, are there any passages in Scripture that suggest something similar to what psychologists and therapists are suggesting? 3. How do you “Humble yourself”? What practical things can you do to contribute to making yourself a humble person before God? 4. As a group, try to name 10 experiences that are humbling in nature. To help think of things, try to answer this question ten times: “What is something that makes you feel small, life feel short, or God seem great?” 5. If anxiety were a physical object, it would be simple to “cast” it but what does it mean to “cast” something nonphysical, like anxiety? 6. What are practical things you can do to cast anxiety on God (Hint: 1 Pet. 5:1-5; 8-11)? If something you think of seems obvious, still share it with the group because it may be informative to someone else. 7. Pastor Louie asked the people of our House to raise their hands if they ever had a moment in their life where they “felt like they were actually going crazy.” If you had that moment in your life and you feel comfortable, share as much of the context around that time as you would like to share. 8. Many people struggle to relate to people facing anxiety and depression. If this is you, and you cannot name a time where you dealt with all that intense an anxiety, what are some of the practices in your life that may contribute to your having a relatively “sound” mind? 9. If you think you are “sound” in mind, what is your plan to stay “watchful” (1 Pet. 5:8)? 10.What anxieties are you dealing with currently? If you feel comfortable to share, bring them to the group so someone in the group can pray over your situation. End by praying for each other.
“No matter what your season, your story can end in restoration.” Pastor Louie Giglio journeys through the book of Jeremiah, reminding us that God is a God of the impossible. There is loss in life on a broken planet, but even in the loss, God is working a redemption story. He encourages us to have ears to be attuned to the Word of God and to stand firm in our corner of faith, believing that God will do what He says He will do. LINK TO FULL SERMON CLIP: 🤍 In this clip, Louie Giglio talks about the devastating beauty of the cross, and what Jesus's brutal death as a sacrifice for sin truly says about the love God has for humankind. He discusses the insecurities and need for affirmation experienced by many young people today, ultimately pointing to the cross of Jesus Christ as our antidote to these struggles. Does God's love for you penetrate through your deepest insecurities, or do you feel like there is still more for you to understand regarding His complete and final love for you? ~ROMANS 8:38-39~ (New International Version) 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. ~1 John 4:16-17~ (English Standard Version) 16 So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. 17 By this is love perfected with us, so that we may have confidence for the day of judgment, because as he is so also are we in this world. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Please consider supporting this channel by Liking, Subscribing and Sharing this video with those God lays on your heart. Inspired by Passion’s recent trip to the Holy Land, Pastor Louie shares a powerful talk on the "road" to revitalized dreams. The excavation of the “Pilgrim Road” drove Pastor Louie to share on the importance of God’s timing and His will to draw us into His presence. Under the ruin, the layers of dirt and decay lie a path toward freedom and a relationship with God. It is on this path and in His presence that we regain our ability to dream; to envision our unique life lived for the glory of God and the good of others. In one way or another, each of us has experienced some brokeness in our Earthly Dads. Some have been Absent or Abusive, others saw love as a reward to give out based on our performance. There were passive dads and antagonistic dads. Each of these left us with flawed views of fatherhood in general, and therefore flawed truths about what our Heavenly Father must be like. In part two of our series, Not Forsaken, Pastor Louie Giglio walks us through three truths that God wants us to know about Himself as a father, and us as His children; 1. That we are loved. 2. That we are no longer slaves. 3. That we are sons and daughters of God. Why are these things so important? God is interested in his sons and daughters living their lives to their fullest and finding freedom as children of a perfect father. Pastor Louie shares, “If you get into His Word, you figure out what His will is.” What have you learned is a component of God’s will for your life and the world, according to His Word? 6. Pastor Louie recommends a great idea in “praying through Scripture.” Take a moment as a group and turn to a passage of Scripture and pray through the text. If you cannot think of a text to pray through, turn to Ephesians 1:15-23 and take turns praying short, Scripture-informed prayers. 7. So many stories sound like this, “I was a person of God, I heard the messages and sang the songs, and then life happened; the night grew dark, and when I couldn’t see what God was doing, I swore to never darken the door of the Church again.” — As we kick-off our new series, EVEN THOUGH, Pastor Louie Giglio has a goal for all of us; That we would become a people who move from hearing about God to a people who are in a relationship with the Almighty that emblazons us with a Heaven-born confidence that anchors our lives in the mighty gale, and radiates hope in the darkest nights. — That’s Defiant Faith.
As we kick off our ABOVE + BEYOND season, Pastor Louie Giglio reminds us that generosity isn't an obligation for our House, it's the proper response and the part we are being asked to play in the larger story of God. — With Passion City Online, you can join us every Sunday live at 9:30a and 11:45a, and our gatherings are available on-demand starting at 2p!
