Today we look at how to do an easy Green Screen keying right in the Edit Page! That's right, you don't have to get your feet wet with Fusion for this one. So for all you Beginners with Resolve, and those of you who don't want to get gritty with Fusion just yet, this will be a nice into to using effects in Davinci Resolve 17! But keep in mind, since this is just a simple key in the Edit Page, it won't be perfect. If you want to get the best results, then you'll have to take a dive into Fusion to really get that perfect key. How to Chroma Key or Green Screen from the Timeline/Edit Page in DaVinci Resolve. No need for Fusion or the Color Page 👍 You'll learn the basics in the first 3 minutes, continue on to go deeper. #DavinciResolve #VideoEditing Davinci Resolve 18 (free version) was used in this video. Anyone can get this for free. GET IT: 🤍 ➡️GREEN SCREEN mentioned in video (affiliate link) 🤍 In the past, you would have to use the Color Page or Fusion in order to chroma key (colloquially known as 'green screening') in DaVinci Resolve. But now, we can easily remove a green screen or blue screen right from the Timeline on the Edit Page by using the 3D Keyer effect. And, this effect works in the FREE version of Davinci Resolve! 3D Keyer works amazingly well. It really only take a few seconds to pull a clean key. But, if you need further refinement, there are plenty of built-in parameters to clean your mask to perfection. And it's not just Green! You can key ANY COLOR! Green, Blue, Orange, Purple, Black, etc... Although I would highly suggest you use a green or blue screen for your work - since those colors are the farthest away from skin tones. If your green screen does not cover the frame, no problem. You can use the built-in Garbage Matte or simply crop the video. If you make tutorial videos, podcast, or are a gamer, you need to know how to crop the walls and ceiling from your green screen, because most people won't have a green screen that fills the frame. In this video I show you how to get high quality green screen keys in DaVinci Resolve Fusion. I'm using Resolve 17 Studio in this video however it's exactly the same process in the free version as I haven't used any of the premium features. I also show how to easily create a light wrap affect that gives a light bleed look to the edge of your subject. It can very useful making your green screen composites more realistic. I've used this method on several projects; it doesn't need that many nodes to create and its highly adjustable. You don't need the best footage in the world to do this green screen tutorial, it even works with bad footage! The lighting is a bit uneven and there are clear creases in the green cloth. The footage was shot on a Red Komodo in 6k raw. Having footage this quality defiantly helps with the key, however 4k Prores 422 will also work extremely well. I'm experimenting with making a few videos in this new format, very quick, no fluff, straight to the point.
